Glossary
Rate agreement
A rate agreed with a specific customer for a defined period, which overrides the standard price book while it is valid.
In short
A rate agreed with a specific customer for a defined period, which overrides the standard price book while it is valid.
Large buyers negotiate an annual or quarterly rate rather than quoting each time. The agreement fixes the rate, often against an indicative volume, and sometimes with an escalation clause tied to raw material.
The risk is agreements that never expire. A rate settled two years ago quietly continues because nobody set an end date, and margin erodes with every input cost increase.
Where SysOMS handles it
Rate agreements sit above the price book per customer, with a start and end date, and stop applying when they lapse.
