SysOMS vs a full erp

An ERP records the business. It does not run the sale.

An ERP is organised around the financial and inventory record and is strongest after an order exists. SysOMS governs everything before that, enquiries, follow-up, specification, approved rates and the plant handover, and hands the ERP a clean order.

Honest reading

What a full erp keeps and drops.

Keeps

  • The complete financial record and statutory compliance.
  • Costing, procurement, payroll and inventory valuation.
  • A single source of truth for the accounts team.

Where it stops

  • It starts at the order, so the enquiry stage stays invisible.
  • It is rarely used by field sales, which is where the leaks are.
  • Changing it to fit a sales habit is expensive.

When it is the right choice

If your problem is costing, compliance or inventory valuation, an ERP is the right investment and SysOMS is not a substitute. If your problem is enquiries going cold and rates going out unapproved, the ERP will not reach it.

Nothing reaches the plant until the desk releases it

Sales Admin checks rate, quantity, credit and dispatch date once, then releases the order.

  • Checks run before release

Fair questions

What owners ask here.

Will we have duplicate data entry?

No. Orders, dispatches and quality records are handed over to be pulled into the ERP, so the accounts team stops re-typing what sales already entered.

We are planning an ERP next year. Should we wait?

The two solve different problems and most plants run both. Fixing the sales line first usually funds the ERP.

Does SysOMS hold stock?

It holds the stock position that sales and dispatch need to commit and deliver. Valuation stays in the accounting system.
