Why not just use a normal CRM?
A generic CRM manages the conversation up to the deal and then stops. In manufacturing the risky part starts at the deal: specification, approved rate, committed date, production and dispatch, none of which a CRM understands.
In short
A generic CRM manages the conversation up to the deal and then stops. In manufacturing the risky part starts at the deal: specification, approved rate, committed date, production and dispatch, none of which a CRM understands.
Standard CRMs were designed for software and services, where winning the deal is the hard part and delivery is a formality. A plant is the opposite.
You can force a CRM to hold order data with custom fields, and many plants try. It works until somebody needs a committed date the shop floor agreed to, or a rate that was approved by a named person.
The practical test: ask whether the tool can stop a quotation going out below the approved price. If it cannot, it is a contact database, not a control.
