Is SysOMS an ERP?

No. SysOMS runs the sales operation from enquiry to a dispatch-ready order, and deliberately stops before accounting: no invoices, no ledgers, no GST filing. Your ERP or Tally keeps that, and pulls order and dispatch data from SysOMS.

Why not just use a normal CRM?

A generic CRM manages the conversation up to the deal and then stops. In manufacturing the risky part starts at the deal: specification, approved rate, committed date, production and dispatch, none of which a CRM understands.

Can spreadsheets and WhatsApp run a plant's sales operation?

They can, up to a point, and most plants prove it for years. They break when more than a handful of people need the same current version, because a spreadsheet cannot enforce a rule or tell you what somebody forgot.
