Quotations and pricing
What is a price book and why does a plant need one?
A price book is the approved rate for each product by customer class, region, quantity slab and delivery basis. Without one, the rate depends on who answered the phone, and margin leaks quietly and permanently.

In most plants the real price list lives in the owner's head and in a spreadsheet that is two months old. Everyone quotes from a slightly different version, and nobody can say afterwards what the approved rate actually was.
A price book fixes the base: product, grade, class of customer, region, quantity slab, ex-works or delivered. Anything below it becomes a deviation that needs an approval from a named person, recorded with a reason.
The point is not to stop discounts. It is to make every discount a decision somebody took on purpose, visible afterwards.
